This review is written for those of you who believe that the DSM-5 has a place in your practice. I don’t intend to critique the DSM-5 itself or to reflect on the ways in which it is better or worse than the DSM-IV-TR. I want to focus on the usefulness or otherwise of this particular book.
I find this book very readable. Even though it is published in New York by The Guilford Press and written by James Morrison, an Affiliate Professor of Psychiatry from Portland, Oregon it remains suitable for the Australian or European reader. The stories that it tells are compassionately written and mostly seem to fit our mainstream cultural context well.
