Author Guidelines

Articles submitted to the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia should:

  • Demonstrate relevance to research and/or practice in the counselling and psychotherapy field;
  • Make a significant contribution to the evidence base of counselling and psychotherapy;
  • Demonstrate original and scholarly research using appropriate methodology or a rigorously conducted literature review;
  • Comply with NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (click to view);
  • Have a coherent structure and argument;
  • Be written in a formal style suitable for publication, as specified in the Submission Requirements;
  • Use anti oppressive language; and
  • Comply with current APA (7th edition) referencing conventions.

When preparing a submission, please ensure you have thoroughly read the Submission Requirements and Copyright Policy, and that you are also familiar with the focus and scope of the Journal (click on the ‘For authors’ tab).
